Kay' Dogs

Kay Laurence

We are very lucky to have Kay travel from the UK to spend time with us again next year! Kay’s knowledge of clicker training and dogs, combined with an ability to communicate well with people, makes coming to one of her seminars an incredibly valuable learning experience for any dog handler or dog trainer. We look forward to seeing many old friends and hope also to meet some new friends at the March 2012 Kay Laurence Seminar.

Kay pursues her exploration into canine behavior and learning concepts at Wag More Barn, home of Learning About Dogs. A regular presenter at the Karen Pryor ClickerExpo, Kay's insights and techniques will take the connection with your dog to a whole new level.

Connecting with Your Dog

7.75 CEUs for trainers

Connection with our dogs is a wonderful feeling but there are times when our worlds collide and we feel the connection is anything but perfect. Our dogs do not understand why they have to give up chasing a squirrel, and we do not understand why they will not be quiet. Connection is about learning how the dog sees the world, and showing them that living in our world is not always about giving up the good things, we have a wealth of really great things we can enjoy with them.

Our focus is often on the suppression of innate behaviors which is naturally met with resistance. Even though the science tells us the protocols are sound the reinforcement strategy can often lead to disappointing results. To move forward we need to focus on developing the instinctive occurrence of the behaviors we desire. Build and nurture builds connection, not suppress and depress.

The Connection Experience is a day of learning about your dog through many activities, both energizing and thoughtful, that deepen the connection through understanding. Finding the balance in your relationship. Exploring fun-credits we can give the dog for the compromises they need to make to live in our world.
