Frequently Asked Questions

Q.

Where are classes held?

A.

Classes are held in a safe, indoor location at 173 Buckley Road, San Luis Obispo, CA 9403. There is a separate potty yard for puppies only.  The floor will be sanitized for your puppy’s safety.

Q.

 What happens if I can't make a class/miss a class?

A.

If you miss a class during the session, a recorded version is available for make-up

Q.

What is the limit on number of people per class?

A.

While each class size may fluctuate, class size is typically limited to approximately 8-10 dogs to ensure personal attention.

Q.

What kind of vaccines are required prior to coming to classes?

A.

Dogs must be current on parvo, distemper (or have protective titers), and rabies shots. If you are bringing your puppy to puppy classes, they must be in the progress of having puppy booster shots (Parvo and Distemper).

Q.

Can my large breed puppy join puppy classes?

A.

Yes, but be aware if you join the class when your puppy is older, your puppy will be much larger and stronger than most of the puppies in class and may not be able to play in the play period that happens in the last few classes.

Q.

What kind of classes do you offer for dog-reactive or people-reactive dogs?

A.

We offer classes such as Feisty Fidos for more aggressive dogs but we also offer private classes to help you with your dog-reactive and people-reactive dogs!

Q.

Will classes ever be cancelled due to weather?

A.

If classes cannot be held because of weather conditions, you will not be charged for that class and the 6-week session will continue an additional week. You may check our website two hours prior to class to check on class cancellations.

Q.

Can you teach my dog to walk nicely on a leash?

A.

Yes, we can. There we use different methods that are force-free. Since every dog is different, we can explore and help find the method that is more efficient for your dog. Contact us for private lessons.

Q.

Can my dog learn to come back to me?

A.

Yes, we can. However, it is easier for some dogs to come back to you than others. For example, hounds, terriers, and a few other breeds have a much harder time coming back.

Q.

Can you help teach my dog to stop barking?

A.

Yes. Our trainer will first help you understand why your dog is barking. Once the question of “why” is answered, the trainer will help you manage the barking.

Q.

Can you help my fearful dog?

A.

Yes, we can! Helping a fearful dog become confident takes time and consistency. There are many exercises that we do that help them gain confidence. For example, a game of nose work helps them utilize their strengths.  Just like humans, when we focus on our strengths we become more confident.

Q.

Can you help with my dog who has a lot of energy?

A.

Yes, we can! We can help with redirecting their energy. One of our trainers can help you find easy and quick games to help your dog release their energy in a positive way!
